Catering for All Dietary Needs

At The Parish Nursery, we take the health, safety, and wellbeing of every child extremely seriously — especially when it comes to food and allergies. Our nursery holds a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating, reflecting the highest standards of cleanliness, food preparation, and safety. Our experienced nursery cook, together with our dedicated team, ensures that all meals are prepared with great care and attention. All staff complete Food Allergy Awareness and Food Safety and Hygiene training annually to maintain up-to-date knowledge and best practice.

We take particular measures to support children with food allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary requirements. All relevant information is clearly recorded and communicated to every member of the team, and robust procedures are in place to prevent cross-contamination and ensure every child’s needs are met safely.

Our managers and nursery chef work together to create a four-week rotating menu, designed in line with Lancashire’s Healthy Start Programme and Early Years nutritional guidance. All our meals are homemade and regularly reviewed to ensure they are balanced, healthy, and appealing to children. We encourage children to try new foods and explore flavours from around the world, helping them develop positive attitudes toward healthy eating.

Fresh, Sustainable and Eco-Friendly

At The Parish Nursery, we believe in teaching children the importance of caring for both themselves and the world around them. Many of the vegetables used in our homemade dishes are home-grown in our very own nursery garden, giving children the opportunity to take part in planting, watering, and harvesting the food they later enjoy at mealtimes. This hands-on experience helps children understand where their food comes from and encourages healthy eating habits from an early age.

We are proud to be an eco-friendly nursery, promoting sustainability throughout our setting. We recycle responsibly, reduce waste wherever possible, and encourage children to take part in small, everyday actions that help protect our environment for the future.
